Lisbon (ViaNews) – This is the first edition of the Doc’s Medley, a solidarity music event to take place in the auditorium of FMDUL (School of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon), on October 27, at 9:00 PM.

The event was organized by a group of doctors belonging to the 76/82 class of NOVA Medical School (FCM of UNL). According to the organizers, the inspiration came from the annual Rock’n Law event, promoted by law firms. They adopted the idea to their professional class (doctors) and Doc’s Medley was born. With 35 years of experience in their professions, these doctors have in common the taste for music and the desire to help social projects.

During the two and half hours event, ten bands will be on stage, each consisting of at least one doctor. On stage, you’ll hear mainly covers of well-known songs but also originals of some medical songwriters. Some of the popular bands include: Dixie Gang, Ginjas Band, and Ponto G.

The pro bono collaboration of experienced and qualified partners will help make this event possible and its income reverts back to the Portuguese Association of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive and uncured neurodegenerative disease which causes a progressive loss of functionality and autonomy affecting, according to the event website, more than 70,000 people worldwide and around 800 in Portugal.
