88% of Global Executives Regret Weak AI Foundations as Agentic Infrastructure Goes Live

Eighty-eight percent of executives worldwide wish they had built stronger AI foundations before deploying agentic systems, a 2026 report finds. The admission arrives as enterprise-grade agentic infrastructure from NVIDIA, Dell, AMD, and Snowflake reaches production simultaneously. Organizations from Tokyo to Toronto face the same structural gap: accountability frameworks built for human workers, not machine-speed AI agents.

Eighty-eight percent of executives globally wish they had done deeper foundational work before adopting agentic AI, the Agentic Enterprise Report 2026 shows.1 The finding lands as the hardware and platforms enabling those agents reach production data centers worldwide.

H2 2026 marks a convergence spanning continents. NVIDIA GPU acceleration, Dell Exascale Storage, and AMD's MI350P are reaching availability simultaneously with agentic platforms including Snowflake CoCo, AppFolio Performer, and vertical AI agents across sectors. The compute is ready. The organizations running it are not.

Forty-two percent of companies globally lack clear internal accountability for AI initiatives, the same report finds.1 That accountability gap is consistent across markets — enterprises in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas built organizational structures for human workers, not agents operating at machine speed across multiple systems.

"Your existing tech stack was designed for human-operated, application-centric workflows," said Surojit Chatterjee of Ema. "It needs to be reconsidered when the actor is an AI agent operating at machine speed across multiple systems simultaneously."2

Prasun Shah, cited in the same MIT Technology Review analysis, frames the stakes globally: AI agents are not another stack layer. They are "connective tissue moving across layers to coordinate tasks and contextualize data from multiple applications" — "where the next battleground will be."2

Snowflake's CoCo illustrates the vendor response. The platform serves as an agentic control plane — a governed environment for managing workflows across data, models, and apps at scale.3 Fanatics, Thomson Reuters, and WHOOP are already using it to simplify complex data tasks and accelerate AI deployments.3

Chatterjee distinguishes the current phase from prior waves. Digital transformation moved organizations from paper to software. AI transformation added intelligence to processes. "Agentic Business Transformation" — ABT — integrates AI agents into organizational fabric as active participants, not bolt-on tools.2 That shift demands new workforce structures and accountability frameworks everywhere.

The 88% regret figure is a global leading indicator. Organizations on every continent that treat agentic AI as a standard software rollout will find infrastructure outpaces their capacity to use it.

What we're seeing
AI Chip Boom Lifts Semiconductors as Export-Control Gaps Persist
AI infrastructure demand is fueling a broad semiconductor rally — Broadcom's AI chip revenue and Q4 guidance, Amazon's custom silicon crossing a $25B annual run rate, and bullish analyst calls on Micron and Sandisk tied to a memory chip boom underestimated even by bulls — with ASML rallying on sympathy. That momentum runs alongside unresolved US-China tech tensions: Belgium's arrest of a suspect for stealing chip technology for China and a blacklisted Chinese firm still acquiring Nvidia's top AI chips show export-control enforcement lagging the pace of AI chip demand.

Where sources disagree
JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Both facts record the same attribute (net_income) for JPMorgan Chase & Co. in the identical fiscal period (Q1 2026) and observation date (2026-03-31), but report values that differ by approximately 1 billion times: $16,494,000,000 vs $16.49. These cannot both be true simultaneously. The discrepancy suggests either a unit mismatch (e.g., one is total net income, the other earnings per share mislabeled as net_income), a decimal point error, or data entry corruption. For the same entity, attribute, and time period, only one value can be correct.
