Nvidia and SK Hynix signed a $500 billion memory supply agreement, the largest commitment in a summer of AI chip mega-deals reshaping the global semiconductor industry.
The deal anchors a wave stretching from Seoul to Washington to Paris. Samsung and Broadcom followed with a $200 billion memorandum of understanding covering AI chip production. A South Korea-US AI summit added a package worth roughly $950 billion, securing memory and chip supply for AI infrastructure buildouts on both sides of the Pacific.
The U.S. government took an equity stake in GlobalFoundries, marking a new phase of state involvement in domestic chip manufacturing.1 Packaging and test supplier Amkor Technology sits inside that consolidating supply chain, as memory and logic makers worldwide lock in long-term capacity commitments.2
Agentic AI is moving from chip output to chip design itself. Nvidia is embedding AI agents directly into design and manufacturing workflows with Cadence, Siemens, Synopsys and Silvaco, automating chip layout and verification steps once done manually.1
Consolidation is also reshaping the global analog and RF chip segment. U.S. firms Skyworks Solutions and Qorvo are merging, with integration planning underway between the two companies' engineering teams.3 "Today's announcement reflects the strong partnership that has shaped our integration planning efforts from the very beginning," said Skyworks CEO Bob Bruggeworth.3 Qorvo CEO Phil Brace is part of the leadership transition guiding the combined company.4
Europe is entering the buildout too. French chipmaker Kalray signed a deal with Bull to develop next-generation high-speed networking for AI and high-performance computing. "As AI continues to redefine infrastructure needs across every sector, we're excited to offer technologies that deliver greater performance, flexibility and efficiency," said Kalray CEO Éric Baissus.5
Together, the deals show chipmakers and governments across Asia, North America and Europe racing to lock in AI-driven memory and chip supply chains, while agentic AI tools reshape how those chips get designed in the first place.
